Yu Hamana is a Japanese fashion designer and founder of HAMANA. With a background in fine art, he began his career at Kaikai Kiki, working within the studio of Takashi Murakami, before completing the MA Fashion programme at Central Saint Martins. He currently works in menswear design at A BATHING APE. Through HAMANA, his practice brings together Japanese animism, pop culture, military archetypes, craftsmanship, and material innovation, reinterpreting cultural references through contemporary silhouettes and functions to shape a new form of uniform for contemporary life.
